The Eleusa (or Eleousa) (Greek: MERCY - tenderness or showing mercy) is a type of depiction of the Virgin Mary in icons in which the infant Jesus Christ is nestled against her cheek. In the Western church the type is often known as the Virgin of Tenderness.
This pretty medallion is crafted by me, and is composed of a quality printed image covered with a crystal clear, domed glass cabochon that protects and magnifies the image beneath.
Outer size: 2 3/8" x 1 5/8" (60x42mm)
